What's the difference between socialism and democratic socialism?After 28-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's stunning upset against congressman Joe Crowley in the New York Democratic congressional primary on Tuesday, the word "socialist" was repeatedly used to describe her. Ms Ocasio-Cortez is a registered member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and is a self-described socialist. In other words, it's a state-controlled economy in which the state controls the means of production: factories, offices, resources, and firms.
